Short Biography

Christina Karatzaferi is a Professor in Exercise Physiology & Myology at the University of Thessaly (UTH), Greece. She is the Director of the innovative international MSc in Lifestyle Medicine, the first interdepartmental (medicine, sport science, nutrition/dietetics) master’s programme, under the auspices of ELMO. Christina also currently serves as the Dean of the School of PE, Sport Science and Dietetics at UTH, Greece.
Her academic career has spanned over two decades and two continents, via prestigious UK, USA and EU academic institutions. Her research interests lie at the cross-roads of muscle physiology, biophysics and metabolism, to unveil mechanisms that regulate muscle quality, in the hope of preserving muscle function in the face of disuse or disease. She is involved in research trials testing Lifestyle Medicine approaches for maintaining independence and quality of life in ageing and NCD management while also leading innovative developments in the field of Lifestyle Medicine education.

How our University developed the master's programme, caveats and progress. Of course it depends on different countries's regulations on how to gear towards setting up a PG educational programme.
Our programme addresses three key objectives:
