Short Biography
Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Pikula is a quadruple board-certified expert in Medicine, Neurology, Vascular Neurology, and Lifestyle Medicine. Her clinical and research endeavors are primarily centered on stroke prevention through lifestyle medicine, with a special focus on women’s brain health. Dr. Pikula promotes a holistic approach to brain care, emphasizing stroke and dementia prevention during midlife using evidence-based lifestyle medicine principles.
She holds the position of Associate Professor of Medicine (Neurology), Clinician-Investigator, and Co-Director of the Women’s Neurology Fellowship program. She is the Inaugural Jay & Sari Sonshine Chair in Stroke Prevention and Cerebrovascular Brain Health at the University of Toronto and the University Health Network – Krembil Brain Institute, where she also serves as the founding director of the JS Sonshine Centre.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Pikula has published over 100 high-impact scientific papers and secured more than $17 million in funding from various philanthropic, national, and international grant agencies, including the NIH, CIHR, and HSFC. She is an active expert member on numerous national and international committees and organizations, such as ACLM, ELMO, WSO, AAN, AHA/ASA, and CSC.

It highlights simple yet significant steps towards self - care and self - coaching for both practitioners and their patients . Participants will learn how:
- to objectively measure the brain care factors - individual or a group activity
- to integrate the measured results into daily routines - a group activity
- to optimize self - brain - care at work(for patients / clients) and at home(for themselves / family) -a reflective group activity
This workshop underscores the interconnectedness of lifestyle choices and brain health with tangible, evidence-based approaches.
