Short Biography
Prof. Dr. Todea Doina is a medical doctor from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She is a Pneumologist, the Head of the Pneumology department, and a professor at “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine & Pharmacy. She received her M.D. in 1987 and Ph.D. in 1999 all from the “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine & Pharmacy. She obtained an ELMO certificate in 2022.
She has extensive practical and academic experience, authoring & co-authoring many articles with impact factor published in international journals, multiple reviews, and book chapters in the Pneumology domain. She is an editor and reviewer for a large variety of articles in the Pneumology field that are published in international journals.
She is on the board of the Romanian Society of Pneumology, is the president of the Pathophysiology section, and is an active member of the European Respiratory Society, and European Sleep Research Society with many courses completed in different countries (France, Germany, and Italy) and obtaining degrees in Non-Invasive ventilation, Sleep Medicine, Respiratory Medicine and Health Management. Her fields of interest are respiratory diseases, particularly obstructive bronchitis syndromes, obstructive sleep apnoea, non-invasive ventilation, and tabacology, but her main domain is Sleep Medicine, focusing on the management of sleep apnoea through lifestyle intervention combined with therapy. She obtained ELMO certificate in 2022.
Workshop Title: The sleep as integrative cornerstone of lifestyle medicine
Short description of the Workshop (WGD1):
Sleep disturbances encompass a wide variety of diseases, starting from disorders of maintaining and initiating sleep to excessive somnolence, parasomnias and sleep-wake cycle disturbances.
This workshop aims to frame the screening, diagnosis and management of sleep disturbances, with an accent on obstructive sleep apnea, a prevalent disease worldwide which determines a great morbidity and mortality through cardiometabolic comorbidities. Moreover, this course will characterize the quality of sleep, by assessing the duration, the impact of interruptions and also the timing of a good quality sleep, parameters that are important for the overall individuals health.
By this workshop we aim to highlight the importance of sleep as a cornerstone of lifestyle and to bring in front the importance of an accurate and personalized diagnosis.
